Driving Directions
From Berkeley/Oakland, take 80-W towards San Francisco and go across the Bay Bridge. Follow 101-S, then 280-S towards San Jose. As you approach Woodside, exit on hwy. CA-35 going towards Half Moon Bay. Follow the signs to CA-35, then turn right on Half Moon Bay Road, staying on this road for 2 miles. Turn left on Skyline Boulevard and follow this road for about 4 miles until you reach the Purisima Creek staging area to your right.
Another option is to take 880-S, and exit on Hwy CA-92, which takes you across the San Mateo Bridge. Stay straight on CA-92 until it ends, then turn left onto Skyline Blvd., following the road for about 4 miles until you reach the Purisima Creek staging area to the right.
Trail Directions
We first visited this area in the summer of 2005, thanks to Tracy Dziedzic for showing us the way. The route we took followed the green line on the map (Bay Area Ridge Trail / Soda Gulch Trail / Purisima Creek Trail / Redwood trail) going from the first staging area at Skyline to the other staging area, then followed Skyline Blvd. back to the start. Although this loop measured about 7.5 miles, it had sections of rolling hills making it a challenging yet scenic run.
